Sports Massage & Taping Workshop

This hands-on, interactive course will teach all the essentials of a sports massage practice. Whether working with active clients, weekend warriors, or professional athletes, each participant will know how effectively to address common sports injuries. This course will cover pre-event, post-event, and recovery styles of massage and introduce Muscle Release Techniques, Reciprocal Inhibition, PNF stretching, along with many Swedish Massage Techniques. In the afternoon, each participant will learn how to use kinesiotaping (KT tape) in a variety of styles (supportive, preventative, and lymphatic). You will receive A LOT of bodywork in this class, so please come dressed in comfortable attire (workout clothes work great).
Supplies to Bring: 1-2 flat sheets, 1-2 medium size towels, face cradle cover, massage oil you prefer, hair dryer (optional), comfortable/work out clothes. We will provide samples of KT to practice with. Tape will be available to sell for $15 per roll (cash or check).
Dr. Jean Paul (JP) Amonte
Dr. Jean Paul (JP) Amonte graduated from the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage in 2004 and has been an instructor since 2005. He currently teaches Cayce/Reilly Massage, Advanced Clinical Massage, & Research Methods. In 2002, he graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Biochemistry, and it was during this time he was greatly inspired by the Edgar Cayce readings. After graduating from the Cayce/Reilly School, he worked for several years as a massage therapist at many locations including the ARE Health Spa, Thesier Chiropractic Clinic, and on-site for several corporations. Dr. Amonte then completed his certificate in Hypnotherapy, further studying the body-mind connection. In 2008, he was accepted into Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, California where he was elected President of the Student Government, graduated Magna Cum Laude, was welcomed into the Pi Tau Delta Honor Society, and was awarded the "Virgil Strang Philosophy Award" for his Cayce-based approach to patient health. In addition, Dr. Amonte is an international lecturer on Integrative Healing, and was featured in the Japanese documentary “The Readings.” He currently practices at the A.R.E. Health Center, serving as the Lead Clinician.
